Wild Sea Women® (WSW) are a community of women from all walks of life, who come together collectively to support and encourage one another while taking an invigorating dip in the sea (or other cold natural water).
We usually meet once a week (all year round) at a regular time (Covid restrictions permitting) where you’ll be met by one of our wonderful Leaders or Ambassadors, and then we’ll begin our session with a guided breathing/meditation which will help to relax and calm the body and mind, and enables you to prepare your body and to step into the right mindset before taking a dip in the sea.
Our group is not so much about swimming (though many women do swim too!), but rather dipping and enjoying the many benefits of the cold water.
What to expect
We’ll meet at one of our regular beaches, where we’ll sit down for a few minutes and be guided through a breathing technique – each of our leaders adds their own personal touch to the session. You’ll be given a few safety tips from your leader and will be shown how to warm the body up in the most optimal (and safest) way after the dip.
We currently have a Wild Sea Women group at 8 locations around the UK, 4 in the NE England and 4 in the SW Scotland. Each of our locations has at least one WSW Leader, our leaders are all volunteers and are there to offer support to you on your cold water journey.

We started our group in June 2020 in Sunderland, and soon realised there was a need for groups in other locations. A group of women (our amazing leaders) came forward to help support us on our mission and so we continue to grow.
If you would like lead a Wild Sea Women group in your part of the world, all you need is good knowledge of your local beach/lake/river, the time to commit to leading one WSW session per week, the ability to speak loudly in front of a large crowd and to guide the women through a short (upto 5 min) relaxing exercise such as breathwork, meditation etc. We will support you and offer you guidance every step of the way.
