Hello, I’m Ruth.
I grew up in the north-east countryside and have always enjoyed swimming in
wild places like the local river or the sea if I was lucky. As I grew up and moved
away to the bright lights of London and the magic of the movies, I became
separated from the natural world, having been taught there was more to life. I
now realise that everything I ever needed was within me. I feel like I have come
full circle and arrived back home now with the wild sea women community here.
My friend Chloe re-introduced me to wild swimming early in 2019 after having
our third babies. We took to the inky depths of Hampstead Heath Ladies pond
and this began my re-connection to nature and myself. My third daughter was
also born in water at home, as a fire sign (Leo), I find the water calms me and
reconnects me to what is important in life. We bought our house in Seaham that
same year and I was told by locals that ‘no one swims in the sea here’ but I felt
the call of the ocean and went in anyway.
I was thrilled to discover Wild Sea Women in the summer of 2020 and I knew
instantly that I’d found my tribe. We dipped all through the winter and the sea
became my Saturday morning sanctuary.
I am so excited to join the team at Seaham and share some of my meditations and
breathing exercises. When I’m not in the sea, I am home-educating my daughters
(sometimes that happens in the sea too!) or helping couples prepare for birth.
Female empowerment is my passion and I love empowering women as they
embark on one of the most important journeys of their lives – the journey to
becoming mothers. I run Hypnobirthing classes locally and online as well as
Mindful Mothering relaxation sessions and Family Empowerment circles. More
info on my website: www.ruthsabrosa.com Hypnotherapy audio tracks & family
empowerment boxes can also be purchased from my online shop.
