Hello, I’m Lorna! I first stumbled across dipping in early 2021, when I spotted some ladies making their way into the sea. Intrigued (and slightly shocked) that anyone would opt to go into the chilly sea on the West Coast of Scotland at any point in the year, let alone winter, my interest was sparked! I had to give it a go and suffice to say, I was instantly hooked!
Working in finance, I’ve really benefited from taking the opportunity to stop, breathe and appreciate the wonders of being literally in nature. It never ceases to amaze me how a few minutes in the sea can literally wash away my stress, tension or grumpiness (at least until my feet are back on dry land!). I’m also so grateful to have met so many friendly, supportive and inspirational ladies in our community.
In my spare time I enjoy supporting charities, spending time with my family and friends, reading and exploring ways to maximise my mental wellbeing. You’ll find me on an Ayrshire beach, either in the sea or out for a walk with my husband Darren and our Labrador, Luna (who is also very partial to a spot of wild sea swimming – so don’t be too surprised if you see a black dog bounding towards us)!
I’m so excited to have the opportunity to become a Wild Sea Women Leader and I look forward to meeting many of you soon!
