Hi, I’m Lorna,
I’ve had a fear of deep water since I was a young child and have been facing my fear head on this year (2020). I have a love for the ocean despite my fear and followed my dreams and moved to live by the sea in Whitley Bay a few years ago. I attend regular beach bootcamps down at Cullercoats Bay where I’ve been sea dipping afterwards a few times a week.
I have a passion for mental wellbeing and helping others to thrive and live happier more fulfilling lives. I graduated in a Masters in Psychology in 2019, my main passion being Positive Psychology. I’ve completed training in teaching mindfulness and meditation and was running regular guest speaker Wellness events before COVID and lockdown kicked in.
I also work at Little Green – a vegan cafe in Sandyford where I bake lots of vegan cakes and goodies. I’m also passionate about community and bringing people together and have organised various events from the cafe, such as clothes swaps, educational talks and demonstrations, activist workshops and wellness events. I love being part of this amazing WSW community and helping other women find their inner power and THRIVE!
I recently set up my own baking business ‘The Mindful Baker‘ which has taken off already. I also came up with the idea of setting up Flash Mob events on the beach which have brought so much connection and happiness during this difficult time.
Lorna gets credit for starting up the Flash Mob sessions on the beach – you can watch it in action here
