Hi, I’m Lorna. Since being a young child, I had a fear of deep water and have been facing my fear head on this year (2020). Having a love for the ocean despite my fear caused me to follow my dreams. Moving to live by the sea in Whitley Bay a few years ago. I attend regular beach boot camps down at Cullercoats Bay. This has allowed me to go sea dipping afterward a few times a week.
I have a passion for mental wellbeing and helping others to thrive and live happier more fulfilling lives. Graduating with a Masters in Psychology in 2019, my main passion is Positive Psychology. Before Lockdown, I had completed training in teaching mindfulness and meditation and was running regular guest speaker Wellness events before COVID.
I also work at Little Green – a vegan cafe in Sandyford where I bake lots of vegan cakes and goodies. Bringing people together and having organized various events from the cafe is one of my passions. Events such as clothes swaps, educational talks and demonstrations, activist workshops, and wellness events are often held at the cafe. I love being part of this amazing WSW community and helping other women find their inner power and THRIVE!
Recently I set up my own baking business ‘The Mindful Baker‘ which has taken off already. I also came up with the idea of setting up Flash Mob events on the beach which have brought so much connection and happiness during this difficult time.
Lorna gets credit for starting up the Flash Mob sessions on the beach – you can watch it in action here.
