Joy Coutts – Leader, Seaham

I’m Joy – hello, I’m so pleased to meet you!
And I’m so glad to see you’ve found the Wild Sea Women page too – you’re very welcome here.
I’m delighted to be one of the leaders at the Seham group. I absolutely love leading these sessions. Come and share in our teams passion for connection to the natural world and the embrace of the waves.
It doesn’t matter what age, size, height, colour, faith, occupation etc you are – all the ladies who come along are held in a safe space, a circle where you can breathe and be just YOU for a while.
I discovered sea dipping in the summer of 2020. Anyone who knows me knows I Hate being cold (with a capital H!). So entering the sea and the cold is both a mental and physical challenge. After having ‘a plodge’ some sea dipping friends encouraged me to don a cossie the following week and ‘take the plunge.’ What a revelation being immersed in the sea was!
The waves, the sand, the sea… The benefits of the cold water are pretty addictive.
And I’ll admit – the sea has kept me calm through a turbulent couple of years. I became full time self-employed in early 2020 after 25 years around the financial services industry. Not the greatest timing, to say the least!
When I’m not at the beach or out walking I’m now a freelance professional copy-editor, proofreader and a recently published author of my first novel.
The waves truly inspire me in my work and my writing. I adore supporting and encouraging other women to reach their potential, to take a look at the possibilities for their true selves and find new pathways for their lives.
One thing’s for sure – you’ll leave our sessions with a big smile and glad you’ve nurtured your mind, body and spirit.
